Tandem is a landscape architecture practice based in Maine.

Tandem was founded by longtime friends and colleagues, Jessica Kimball and Eamonn Hutton to focus on planning, designing, and building landscapes and places through close collaboration with clients and allied professionals. We specialize in managing complex projects and diverse teams. Our portfolio includes both national and local projects ranging from designing public parks to residential gardens; from planning for coastal resilience to clean energy; from facilitating public engagement to environmental permitting. Throughout our work, skillful adaptation in the face of change - be it environmental, economic, cultural, or institutional - is a consistent theme. We help to navigate change.

We chose the name Tandem as an allusion to our collaborative methodology. We are perennially drawn to work that leverages the wisdom and power the collective. It is also a nod to our dual leadership model, in which we share decision-making and responsibility while relying on our complementary strengths and personalities.

As we embark on this thrilling endeavor, we are intentionally resisting the urge to chase projects, say yes to everything, whip up a social media buzz, or otherwise mistake the marathon of practice for a sprint. Instead, we are taking our time to build a strong foundation for Tandem’s future. As we get started, here are some dates to look forward to:

November 1, 2024: Books Open for New Collaborations

January 1, 2025: Website Launch

March 1, 2025: Social Media Launch

In the meantime, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We hope to hear from you!
