Tandem Landscape Architects
Tandem was founded by longtime friends and colleagues, Jessica Kimball and Eamonn Hutton. Both raised in New England and professionals in the close-knit field of landscape architecture, Jessica and Eamonn crossed paths at various points along the way to Tandem. Each partner brings a unique history of education and experience to the team.
We chose the name Tandem as an allusion to our collaborative methodology. We are perennially drawn to work that leverages the wisdom and power of the collective. It is also a nod to our dual leadership model, in which we share decision-making and responsibility while relying on our complementary strengths and personalities.
Eamonn Hutton, PLA
Eamonn has over twenty years of professional experience ranging from comprehensive planning in urban regions to detailed design and construction documentation for parks, homes, and campuses. Eamonn began his career in Bar Harbor, where he attended the College of the Atlantic. It was there that Eamonn was first exposed to landscape architecture, ecological restoration, and data-driven planning. For two years following his graduation, Eamonn worked locally as a landscape designer on residential and municipal projects. Eamonn left Maine to attend the Harvard Graduate School of Design in 2007, where he earned his Masters of Landscape Architecture. Following graduation, Eamonn worked for two award-winning firms in Boston – Sasaki and Agency – before joining Viewshed as Design Principal in 2022.
Eamonn enjoys fishkeeping, organic gardening, attending concerts, and horsing around with his two children.

Jessica Kimball, PLA
Jessica has twenty years of experience spanning the fields of landscape architecture, planning, and visual assessment. She grew up in Maine and earned her professional degrees at Dalhousie University and the University of Toronto. As an undergraduate student of planning, her introduction to landscape architecture was through a study abroad program at the University of Canberra in Australia. Prior to founding Tandem, Jessica served as a town planner for the Town of Old Orchard Beach, practiced at Sasaki Associates in Boston, and was the Director of Landscape Architecture at Viewshed in Yarmouth. Having experience as both municipal planner and design consultant, Jessica understands both sides of the development process. She brings this comprehensive approach to her work, often operating at the intersection of design and policy. She feels privileged to serve local clients and communities across Maine.
Jessica loves skiing, boating, and camping with her husband and kids.
